COLUMBIA CITY, OR (KPTV) -

Two people are safe after a close call on the road near Columbia City. A husband and wife were driving on Highway 30 on Thursday night when the car left the roadway and crashed into a natural gas feeder line.

Troopers say Sebastian Dudek, 40, and Ashley Dudek, 29, both of Rainier, were involved in an argument for several minutes prior to the crash. Troopers said during the argument, Ashley Dudek grabbed the steering wheel, causing the car to leave the road. The crash closed the highway for three hours.

Ashley Dudek was arrested and lodged in the Columbia County Jail for one count of recklessly endangering another person. Sebastian Dudek was cited to appear in Columbia County Court for reckless driving.

Several residents in a nearby neighborhood are without natural gas service until Northwest Natural Gas crews can repair the damage to the line. Initial estimates of the damage are at least $20,000.
