Strange-looking suspicious device shuts down Keizer street

Posted: Updated:
KEIZER, OR (KPTV) -

An odd-looking object with wires sticking out of it and a button that said "push to play" shut down a Keizer street Sunday evening.

Keizer police received a report of a suspicious object adjacent to the sidewalk and statue located on the 5400 block of River Road North.

Officers arrived and were unable to determine where the object came from or what it was.

Police taped off the immediate area and called the Salem Police Department's bomb squad to the scene.

The road was closed at 5:30 p.m. Sunday for the investigation. A robot was used to examine the item.

Bomb technicians determined it had electronic components, but no explosives. The road was open again about 10 minutes later.

If you know anything about this case, call Keizer police at 503-390-3713.
