Troutdale teen who saved boy from burning home receives national honor

ARLINGTON, VA (KPTV) -

A Troutdale teenager who saved his neighbor's life received a national honor from the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Foundation.

Marcos Ugarte, 15, received the Citizen Service Before Self award during at ceremony in Arlington, VA.

He saved a 6-year-old boy from a burning house last September by climbing a ladder to a second-story window and pushing his way through the smoke to coax the boy to safety.

The foundation received hundreds of nominations. Marcos was one of four honorees to receive the award.
