Portland police are investigating a possible bias crime that happened a Sunday morning.
Carlos Cervantes, of Yacolt, WA, says he was walking by the Clinton Street Theatre when he was knocked to the ground and then kicked in the head several times.
Cervantes refused any medical treatment and did not appear to be seriously hurt.
He says he was targeted because the suspect believed he was gay.
Police say the suspect was last seen going southbound on 27th Avenue on foot.
They describe him as African-American.
Bias crime detectives are handling the investigation.
