A man who was stabbed six times at a Vancouver Starbucks is recounting what happened as the horrible crime unfolded.

It happened on the afternoon of March 11 at a Starbucks on Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard.

Jerry Kush said he was leaving and walking to his car when a man began following him, then pulled out a knife and stabbed him six times.  Kush suffered wounds to his torso that punctured his lung and intestines and narrowly missed his heart.

Kush, who is recovering in the hospital, says he immediately feared the worst.

"My mind was going 'He's going to kill me and get away before anybody can stop him.' Then, I find out later, there were people hitting him, trying to get him off me and everything," Kush said.

A man, who was among the people who jumped into help, was stabbed several times in the leg.  He was treated and released from the hospital.

Police say the man responsible for the attack is Scott Fandrich. He was arraigned on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and malicious harassment. He entered a not guilty plea in court and was ordered to undergo a psych evaluation at the Western State Hospital.

Initial court documents suggested Kush and fandrich were involved in an argument about religion and cars, but Kush said that's not true.

Kush said he doesn't blame Fandrich.  He just thinks he's sick and needs to get help.
