GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

Gresham police are investigating clams that two teens attacked a woman while she was riding her bike.

It happened along the Gresham Fairview Trail between Stark and Glisan on March 12.

The woman said she was riding her bike when two girls hit her in the head with a stick.

According to the victim, the impact cracked her helmet.

The attackers then ran off and jumped over a nearby fence.

Bicyclists who use the trail said they were pretty stunned by what happened.

"My husband doesn't usually like me to come out [to the trail] by myself," said bicyclist Janet Brandon. "Even in the daytime. He just prefers that we go together just because we see interesting people."

Officers said they found two girls who roughly matched the description by the victim.

Both girls told police they had been to the market nearby but denied having anything to do with the attack.

Police had not made any arrests as of Wednesday morning.
