Vancouver man pleads guilty in noisy neighbor shooting

VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A man who shot his noisy neighbor during an argument at a Vancouver apartment complex pleaded guilty to manslaughter Tuesday.

Christopher Paul will learn his sentence on the lesser charge in May.

Police first took him into custody at the Village at Cascade Park Apartments on Southeast 123rd Ave. in March 2012.

Police said Paul confronted Eric Walswick to complain about loud music and an argument broke out. At some point, a shot was fired, and Walswick later died of the gunshot wound.

The Columbian reported Paul said he fired in self-defense, but a prosecutor said Walswick was unarmed and there were no signs of a struggle.

Paul's lawyer said Walswick had jumped out of his car and chased Paul after being confronted.
