Portland piano concert to benefit after-school music program

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A local musician is teaming up with the Salvation Army to make sure kids keep learning how to make music.

The Salvation Army and Michael Allen Harrison are hosting the "Something Grand" concert Saturday at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.

The event will feature 10 grand pianos played by professional pianists, as well as young piano players.

The concert is a benefit for the Salvation Army after-school music programs, with all proceeds going toward free music lessons, instruments and supplies for underprivileged kids.

Tickets cots $10-$40. The show starts at 1 p.m. Saturday.
