Police: Teens trying for port-a-potty fires reward arrested for arson

CAMAS, WA (KPTV) -

Police said they caught the suspects accused of burning down port-a-potties in Camas.

Ryan Ruge, 19, and Chasen Sincavage, 18, both of Camas, face charges of arson and making false statements to a public servant.

Camas police and firefighters responded to multiple reports of suspicious fires involving public bathrooms earlier in the month. In each case, they were burned down in a public area.

Five units in all were destroyed.

The Arson Alarm Foundation and the Washington Insurance Council offered a reward up to $10,000 in the case.

Investigators said the suspects, in an attempt to collect that reward, agreed to blame a boy who was not involved.

Police said they made up a story and told that story to investigators, who didn't buy it. That led to the extra charge of making false statements.

Police said there is still a third suspect, also from Camas, who has not yet been arrested.

Questions about the reward should be directed to the Camas fire marshal at 834-6191 or the Arson Alarm Foundation at 1-800-55-ARSON.
