The annual Tulip Fest got under way Friday at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, 33814 S. Meridian Rd.

The event, centered around the farm's more than 40 acres of tulips and daffodils, includes a children's area with duck races, slides and swings, along with pony rides, steam tractors and wooden shoe making demonstrations.

There is also a you-pick tulip area, wine tasting and a crafters market place.

The festival runs through May 5. It costs $10 per carload, $20 for a bus and $5 per bicycle.
