Investigators with the Washington County Sheriff's Office are looking into a suspected mobile meth lab found in the Raleigh Hills neighborhood.
On Tuesday afternoon, a deputy found a parked 1976 Chevrolet van with a utility trailer at SW 76th Avenue and McMillan Street. The deputy had evidence to believe the van contained illegal drugs, so he and a K-9 unit searched the vehicle. Inside, the deputy found items consistent with a meth lab, including glassware and chemicals often using in the manufacture of methamphetamines.
The area was immediately cordoned off for safety. Deputies were worried about the chemicals, which if combined can often create toxic fumes. The area was closed for about six hours while crews cleaned up and disposed of the chemicals.
The investigation into who owned the van is still ongoing.
