CORNELIUS, OR (KPTV) -

A 15-year-old boy who police allege is a gang member belonging to the Highland 13 gang has been arrested on drug charges and linked to vandalism cases in Cornelius.

Cornelius police said they received a report of several gang members smoking marijuana at an apartment complex on North Adair Street on Wednesday morning.

An officer who responded smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from one of the apartments and saw teens running from the backyard area of the complex.

Police said they were able to contact the 15-year-old boy, who admitted smoking marijuana and selling pot to his friends.

Officers seized a little over 4 grams of marijuana, plus scales and packaging when they searched the teen's bedroom.

They also found gang-related graffiti on items and furnishings in the suspect's bedroom.

The graffiti appeared to match vandalism seen around the city, and police said they also found other evidence implicating the teen in graffiti at businesses and other addresses in Cornelius.

Lt. Joe Noffsinger said the teen is linked to a graffiti spree from March 13, when several businesses and a cars were hit with graffiti in the area of 10th Avenue and Adair Street.

Police have released the teen to the Washington County Juvenile Department. They're still looking into whether he's tied to other graffiti cases from around Cornelius.
