PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

After seeing his mug shot in the news, a resident of Washington County spotted a wanted sex offender and called police.

A Portland Police spokesman says 48-year-old Floyd Henry Deford, who was wanted on a parole violation charge, was arrested this morning by Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies.

Deford was picked up at about 7:45 a.m. while he was walking on the sidewalk at Southwest Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and Scholls Ferry Road.

He was booked into the Washington County Jail.

Deford had a felony parole violation warrant on an original charge for burglary, police said.

He became a registered sex offender following a first-degree rape conviction, detectives told FOX 12.

Officers say Deford, who is homeless, usually frequents the area of Southeast 17th Avenue and Powell Boulevard.

There were no new reports of criminal activity by Deford when he was arrested this morning.
