A group of neighbors in Lake Oswego are unhappy with plans to build a new Walmart store and they took to the streets to protest the development.
Protesters with the group Occupy Lake Oswego picketed near the site of the future store in the Tigard Triangle, a business complex at SW 72nd and Dartmouth.
The protesters said they're concerned about the negative impacts that the development could have on labor, local businesses, water resources and wetlands in the area.
"I'm going to be out here with signs trying to get people not to turn in this driveway; and (instead) turn in that driveway and go to that WinCo and turn in that driveway and go to that Costco," said Karen Crichton, who was demonstrating.
At this point, Walmart has not made any changes to their plan.
According to its website, the retail store is expected to open in October and will employ about 300 people.
