PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A kidnapping investigation led to a traffic stop that closed down Interstate 5 in north Portland Thursday morning.

Now, one man is facing charges.

It all started at 4:15 a.m. when Portland police responded to a call about a possible kidnapping in southeast Portland.

After speaking with the caller, officers began looking for a potential suspect vehicle, a silver Chevy Impala.

Police located the car and stopped it on I-5 near North Rosa Parks Way. The freeway was temporarily closed during the traffic stop.

A male and female were in the car and detained by police. The car was towed from the scene.

Thursday afternoon police arrested Jamiryz Doyle, 21, in connection with the investigation. When officers stopped the car, they saw a handgun inside.

Investigators determined Doyle was involved in a fight with two women, resulting in the 911 call about a possible kidnapping.

He is charged with altering a serial number of a firearm and menacing. He is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
