A local Gleek will get the opportunity of a lifetime early next week when she meets the cast of the hit Fox show Glee.
Make-a-Wish Oregon will fly Regan Wolfe, her mother and her grandmother down to Los Angeles on Sunday.
Regan, 12, will get to watch a taping of an episode and meet some of her favorite cast members, a spokeswoman for the organization said.
When Glee first appeared on television four seasons ago, Regan began an instant fan. She plays songs from the hit show on her iTouch every day and watches her favorite episodes, her mother said. She's watched many of the episodes several times.
Regan's passion for the show is probably most obvious down the hall from the living room inside her family's apartment in West Salem. In the midst of all the posters of cast members in her bedroom sits a pillow case of her favorite cast member.
"Finn," Regan said. "My boyfriend."
Regan hopes to meet Finn, whose real name is Cory Monteith, early next week when she travels to Los Angeles to meet cast members in person. She'll tour the set and likely sit-in on a taping of a sectionals competition performance, her mother said.
"The good thing about Glee is that they're all about being different or being the underdog," said Christi Wolfe, Regan's mother.
The trip is thanks to Make-a-Wish Oregon, which is part of a national organization that grants wishes to kids with life-threatening medical conditions.
Regan suffers from an undiagnosed type of ataxia, Christi Wolfe said. It's a condition that mostly affects her cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls motor function, she added.
"As a parent, I should be able to fix it and make it better," Christi Wolfe said. "And I can't. And so, if there's just anything I can do for her to just make her happy, make everything better to the best of my ability... this is it."
Regan won't know the exact details of her trip until she lands in California on Sunday, Christi Wolfe said. But getting the opportunity is a dream come true, she added.
"It's everything," Christi Wolfe said.
