Pipe bomb discovered in field near Aloha

Posted: Updated:

A pipe bomb discovered in a field in Aloha this afternoon was blown up by the Portland Metro Explosive Disposal Unit.

Washington County sheriff's deputies responded to the area of Southwest Koehler Road and Southwest Clark Hill Road on Saturday afternoon after someone found the device in a field near the road.

The device was described as a pvc pipe with caps on each end. There was reportedly a fuse wire coming out from the end of the pipe.

Deputies shut down Southwest Clark Hill Road as the bomb squad took care of the device.

Deputies are not sure how long the device had been there or who put it there.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The investigation continues.
