VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

The deaths of a Vancouver couple have been ruled a murder-suicide.

The bodies of Cheryl Honey, 57, and Robert Hedgers, 51, were discovered Wednesday evening on northeast 135th Avenue near 31st Street.

The Clark County Medical Examiner's Office said Friday Cheryl Honey was shot in the chest and left arm. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Hedgers' death after a gunshot to the chest was determined to be a suicide.

Neighbors said the couple was new to the neighborhood, having moved in around Easter, and they never saw or heard problems at their house.

Managers at Christensen Yachts in Vancouver confirmed that Hedgers had been an employee there for five months. After he didn't show up for work, a coworker stopped by his house and found the bodies.

A longtime friend of Honey told Fox 12 the couple was planning to get married in July.

They were both involved in The Family Support Network, a nonprofit organization Honey founded, according to friend Kirk Gardner.

"She only did good to people and was very, very unselfish," he said. "If ever anyone had a need, she would attempt in any way to fill it."
