Police arrest man in non-injury gang shooting

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police have arrested a man after a non-injury gang shooting in Downtown Portland.

Police responded to the area of Southwest Second Avenue and Ankeny Street for a shots fired call around 3:30 Sunday morning.

A description was given to officers and police located a man matching the suspect's description at Southwest Natio Parkway and Oak Street.

A witness positively identified the suspect as 26-year-old Ean Nisbitt.

Officers learned Nisbitt confronted a group of people in a car at Southwest Second Avenue and Ankeny Street where he displayed a handgun.

The victims parked their car a few minutes later and were walking along Second Avenue when they ran into Nisbitt again.

Nisbitt and the victims exchanged words and Nisbitt pulled out the handgun and fired several shots at the victims.

The victims, 19-year-old Kevin Mikes and 19-year-old Benjamin McClellan, ran from the scene, uninjured, and called police.

Based on information from the victims and witnesses, the Gang Enforcement Team responded to conduct the investigation.

Nisbitt was charged with two counts of attempted aggravated murder, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of MDMA.

The handgun used in the shooting has not been located.

Anyone locating a handgun in the area of Southwest Second and Ankeny to Natio Parkway and Oak are asked to call police.

The Portland Police Bureau Gang Enforcement Team and Gun Task Force are continuing to actively investigate gang and gun crimes in the city of Portland.
