SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A Salem-Keizer man is recovering Monday morning after being hit by a car.

Police said Jonathan Curtis, 22, ran in front of a car on Lancaster Drive Northeast near Sunnyview just before 9:40 Saturday night.

Curtis was wearing dark clothes and alcohol appears to be involved, police said.

Menthy Maras, 42, was driving south on Lancaster when he hit Curtis.

Police said he tried to miss Curtis but was unable to.

Paramedics took Curtis to a hospital with what was described as life-threatening injuries.

His condition has since been upgraded and Curtis is expected to recover.

Maras stayed at the crash site and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Maras was not facing any criminal charges as of Monday morning.
