GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) -

The Gastonia Fire Department responded to a car fire that was started when the vehicle knocked over a gas pump at a local gas station Monday, according to officials.

The incident happened at the Kingsway CITGO gas station on Bessemer City Road in Gastonia Monday evening.

Firefighters arrived to find a car they say had knocked over a gas pump causing the fire. The firefighters quickly turned off the gas main and saturated the car with foam, extinguishing the fire.

The Gastonia Police Department secured the area as they investigated the cause of the wreck.

No injuries were reported.
