Washougal intruder report 'unfounded,' police say

WASHOUGAL, WA (KPTV) -

Washougal police said reports of an intruder at a home in the Gibbon Creek Mobile Estates turned out to be unfounded Tuesday.

Officers began investigating after a 5-year-old girl's grandmother, Teresa Myers, called police to her home on Addy Street around 6 a.m.

She said two girls, ages 4 and 5, were in the room at the time. The older sister started screaming about the man in the room.

"She was screaming so loud, so hard," Myers said.

Police responded and later interviewed the girls and the grandmother.

They determined the buglary was unfounded, and are no longer looking for a suspect.

While there were reports of police activity and a possible arrest near the home, that activity was unrelated, police said.

The case is no longer under investigation.
