NEAR WARRENTON, OR (KPTV) -

A construction flagger is recovering after getting side-swiped while working on Highway 101 south of Warrenton.

It happened at about 10:25 Monday morning near milepost 14.

Oregon State Police said the flagger, Tammy Cochen, 47, was standing near the northbound lane at the beginning of the construction zone.

Cochen had just switched her sign to "stop" when she was hit, state police said.

Troopers said Thomas Chatterton, 76, was driving a red Suzuki Wagon and side-swiped Cochen.

Paramedics took Cochen to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria with serious injuries.

Chatterton was not hurt.

Troopers cited Chatterton for disobeying a traffic control device.
