Rare valuable guitar stolen from Milwaukie home

Posted: Updated:

A burglar broke into a Milwaukie home in broad daylight and took off with the very item the homeowner loves the most.

Police say someone stole countless valuable items from a home on Southeast 49th Avenue Monday, but at the top of the list was a rare 1957 Fender Telecaster Guitar.

Leroy Finck, 74, says someone entered his home through a bathroom window between the times of 1 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. While he and his wife were at a doctor's appointment.

When they got back, they found the home ransacked.

"There were things scattered everywhere and drawers left open," said Leroy Finck. "Then I looked at the floor and my guitar was gone."

Finck says he bought the specialized guitar at the age of 19 for $300 dollars. He's played it every day since.

"It's a thing that's grown with me all these years, I've had it for 50 years, it's a valuable and it's an antique."

The all original Fender guitar is described as off-white in color with a tan neck in a tan, well-used guitar case.

Finck says the suspect also took off with priceless jewelry, military medals and the family computer.

Anyone with information regarding the stolen guitar or information about the burglary is asked to please contact the Milwaukie Police Department.
