A man accused of dumping his father's body in a burn pile and setting his remains on fire is guilty of murder.

A judge convicted Troy Fisher on charges of murder and premeditated murder Tuesday. He is scheduled to be sentenced Friday.

Fisher was arrested in August 2011. Police said he told his family that his father, Edward Fisher, 69, reconnected with a former girlfriend from decades earlier and she took him on her yacht back to her home in Germany.

Court documents said the family found this story to be farfetched. One month later, Clark County sheriff's deputies were called to take a missing person's report at Edward Fisher's home in Brush Prairie.

Deputies were told the family became concerned after they did not hear from Edward Fisher for more than a month, so those relatives called 911.

The Clark County Major Crimes Team then launched an investigation.

According to court documents, Troy Fisher said his father was armed with a gun when he confronted him on the night of Aug. 7. A struggle ensued and the gun went off, hitting his father in the head, he told deputies. Troy Fisher then shot his father in the back, according to his statement made to deputies.

Troy Fisher then attempted to dispose of his father's body and other evidence, according to investigators.

Troy Fisher worked for his father's forklift repair business.
