SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Several dogs were delivered to the Willamette Humane Society in Salem on Thursday from overcrowded shelters in Southern California.

Through a partnership with Shelter Transport Animal Rescue Team (S.T.A.R.T.) and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), the dogs were transferred to a location where they are more likely to get adopted.

The team delivered to more than 120 dogs to Humane Societies across the state.

Upon arrival, the dogs were all medically examined, given temperament testing and underwent spay/neuter surgeries. They will be up for adoption in the coming days.

The Willamette Humane Society has partnered with S.T.A.R.T. since May 2012, and has been able to find homes for nearly 300 dogs originating from southern California.

It lists its available dogs at http://www.whs4pets.org/.
