SELLWOOD, OR (KPTV) -

The birds are coming to Sellwood for an annual festival.

The 2013 Festival of the Birds is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 11 at Sellwood Park and Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge.

The event is free and features live birds, games, arts and crafts and nature walks.

People in attendance will have a chance to get up close to the birds and learn about their habitat.

Naturalists will lead bird walks along the trails of Oaks Bottom to observe birds and compare them to previous bird sightings in previous years. The guided walks take place all day every half-hour.

Early birds can catch an early morning walk starting at 7:30 a.m. by registering at www.portlandparks.org, for class #398198.

The later walks do not require registration.

Activities for teens will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Sellwood Pool, 7951 SE Seventh Ave., including a chocolate tasting, birding and active sports.
