Thieves in Hillsboro target cars, then garages

Posted: Updated:
HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

Police in Hillsboro are on the lookout for the person or people responsible for a series of overnight break-ins. Officers say someone got into three unlocked cars in the neighborhood of SE 37th and Willow on Wednesday night or Thursday morning then used garage door openers to get into the victims' property.

Victims who spoke to Fox 12 said the person responsible accessed their garage. One victim said the thieves bypassed more expensive items like tools and sporting goods and took a skateboard instead.

Police also said the thieves stole whipped cream and beer from another home. Because of that, they believe kids or teenagers may be to blame.

Police urge people to keep their car doors locked to help prevent thefts like this from happening.
