The Portland Timbers beat out Chivas USA Saturday afternoon with a convincing 3-0 win.

The match kicked off at 2 p.m. at JELD-WEN field.

Rodney Wallace opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a deft chip over the Chivas keeper.

In the second half, Diego Valeri made it 2-0 in the 70th thanks to a through ball from Darlington Nagbe.

The Timbers wrapped things up with a goal from skipper Will Johnson in stoppage time.

The win saw the Green and White move into second place in the Western Conference with 18 points from 11 matches.

Portland also extended their unbeaten run to nine matches.

The Timbers return to action Saturday, May 18.

They're set to take on Cascadia Cup rivals Whitecaps FC in Vancouver.
