UO athletes honor tennis player

Posted: Updated:

Athletes at the University of Oregon are paying their respects to the tennis player who died after a diving accident along the McKenzie River.

For the rest of the 2013 season, athletes will wear a patch honoring the memory of Alex Rovello. The circular black patch shows Rovello's initials in white lettering.

Rovello died Saturday, after jumping off a 60-foot cliff into the Blue Pool at Tamolitch Falls. He hit his face and drowned, investigators said.

A memorial service for Rovello is planned for the weekend.
