Police: 69-year-old man repeatedly propositioned teen from his car

GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

A 69-year-old man is accused of repeatedly following a 15-year-old girl in his car and asking her to perform sex acts in exchange for money.

Jerry Guess, of Gresham, was arrested Friday and charged with luring a minor.

Beginning in April, investigators said he began following the teen girl in his 1992 Ford Thunderbird. He is accused of calling her by the wrong name and saying he recognized her from a strip club.

Police said the girl tried to ignore him, but he continued to follow her and ask her to perform sex acts with him. Officers said he would finally leave when she yelled at him.

Three incidents happened near Southeast Stark Street, between 199th and 202nd Avenue, according to police.

On two other occasions, the girl said Guess followed her, but did not talk to her.

On May 10, the girl said it happened again. She ran home and told her mother, who hurried outside to confront the man as he sped away.

The mother and daughter called police, describing the suspect as a heavyset white man in his 60s with gray hair. They also provided the license plate information from his car.

Guess was then identified by detectives and arrested.

Police want to hear from anyone who knows about this case or any similar incidents possibly involving Guess or his car. The Gresham police tip line is 503-618-2719 or 1-888-989-3505.
