If you tried to log onto the state's unemployment insurance benefits page this weekend, you'd know it wasn't working. It's back up and running now, but CBS 5 News wanted to know what happened.
The computer system crashed Saturday. Workers at the Arizona Department of Economic Security are still trying to figure out exactly why that happened, but the bottom line is people weren't able to file online Saturday, Sunday or Monday, Memorial Day.
"If people file online, not by fax but online, they will get their benefits in two business days after they file, so if you file today or file tomorrow you'll still get your benefit this week," said DES Assistant Director James Apperson.
To make sure it never happens again, an alert system is being set up to notify the powers that be about a problem as soon as it happens in the future.
