Students prank principal by hiring mariachi band to follow him

A group of students pulled off a prank that will be remembered for a long time at West Linn High School.

They hired a mariachi band to follow their principal around the halls for three hours earlier this week.

Around 90 students donated $5 to $10 each to pay for the prank.

"We decided to do something that was funny that we knew Lou could handle, because he's a good principal and he has a sense of humor like that," said Courtney Brearley, one of the prank's organizers.

The students got the ball rolling on the mariachi band idea using a secret Facebook group. However, the students admitted that even some administrators were in the loop about the plan.

For his part, Principal Lou Bailey had a great time with the whole thing.

"I'm proud of them," he said. "They should be proud of themselves for doing something that really is what a prank should be about. It's something that should be fun and good-natured."

Bailey said he felt like the only one who didn't know about it until he was face to face with a trio of fully costumed musicians.

"Not only is it the seniors that will remember it, but everyone will remember it," said Andie Tenoso, another one of the prank's organizers.
