Gresham police announced a suspect description Monday in the shooting death of a man at the Rockwood Station Apartments in Gresham on Sunday.

The shooting happened just before 7 p.m.

Officers found the victim, 21-year-old Andreas Jones-Dixon, in the parking lot when they arrived at the scene, and he died a short time later.

Witnesses said a neighbor tried to give Jones-Dixon CPR, but he had been shot several times.

A 911 caller said he heard at least seven gunshots.

"I said, you need to get people out here. They tried to resuscitate him, but his injuries were too severe," the man said.

Detectives from several local police agencies could be seen investigating at the apartment complex. Jones-Dixon's family also arrived at the apartment complex Sunday night.

Detectives said the shooter ran off east through the apartment complex.

He's described as black and in his early 20s. He had 2-inch dreadlock-style hair, and stands between 5'11" and 6'1" tall, while weighing about 160 pounds.
