Posted: Updated:
VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A reward is being offered to track down whomever beheaded a Vancouver sculpture honoring local shipyard workers during World War II.

Vancouver police said the red glass polka dot scarf that sits atop the Wendy Rose statue was taken between May 7 and May 11.

The 10-foot statue stands on the Columbia Waterfront Trail, a mile east of the Interstate 5 Bridge. It is a combination of "Wendy the Welder" and "Rosie the Riveter," according to the city's website, and honors the men and women who supported the war effort through their work at the Kaiser Shipyards.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.

If you know anything about it, call 503-823-HELP (4357) or leave a tip online at www.crimestoppersoforegon.com.
