DALLAS, OR (KPTV) -

Deputies in Polk County arrested a man on Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly pulled the fire alarm and knocked over an employee on his rush out of the building.

Deputies arrested Eric Douglas Beck of Dallas at around 2:40 Wednesday afternoon near the corner of Jefferson Street and Court Street in Dallas. According to investigators, Beck pulled a fire alarm on the second floor of the building during business hours. They say on his rush out of the building, Beck knocked over a female employee who received minor injuries.

As employees exited, deputies saw Beck running south on Jefferson Street and began to follow him. Beck allegedly was trying to wave down passing cars to get a ride out of the area.  He also allegedly tried to steal a cell phone from a person in the courthouse.

While being questioned by deputies, Beck appeared to be acting erratically and under the influence of drugs. He admitted to using bath salts and ecstasy within the past several hours.

Beck is being charged with disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, harassment and assault.

He is being held at the Polk County Jail on $37,500 bail.
