Crash causes thousands to lose power in NE Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The power was knocked out for 16,500 people in northeast Portland Thursday evening.

Pacific Power listed the cause as a "transmission interruption." Investigators said a car hit a power pole at Northeast 57th and Fremont.

The power was expected to be restored by 7:30 p.m., but crews said they had the job done for most of their customers by 6 p.m.

Affected neighborhoods included Sullivan's Gulch, Hollywood, Rose City Park, Cully, Beaumont and Alameda.
