An Albany man indicted for a deadly crash that killed two people turned himself in to Oregon State Police Friday morning.
Police said Wallace Beaver, 46, was driving his 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup on Highway 20 near Milepost 24 about a half mile from Eddyville in the morning of Oct. 25, 2012. He crossed the centerline on a right curve and slammed head-on into a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo, according to investigators.
The driver of the car, Daniel Loper, 57, of Toledo, and his daughter, April Loper, 34, of Toledo, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The woman's 2-month-old son in a child carrier safety seat was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Beaver was also hurt in the crash.
Last week, a Lincoln County grand jury indicted him on charges of criminally negligent homicide. He was released from custody after turning himself in Friday pending his next appearance in court June 24.
