PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Red Cross is helping a woman after a late-night house fire in Southeast Portland.

The two-alarm fire started around 11:15 p.m. Friday at a home on Southeast Flavel near 56th.

Firefighters said there was "apparently a lot of stuff" in the home that made it hard for them to battle the flames.

Crews said they fought the fire defensively until around 3 a.m. and were able start recalling units around 4 a.m.

Fox 12 talked to one woman who said she was in the home when the fire started.

"I heard a pane of glass in the kitchen break, like someone was breaking window and I was afraid it was a burglar," said the woman, who did not want to be identified. "I got up and went into the kitchen, and just then the whole kitchen exploded in a giant fireball."

No one was hurt.

The cause and damage estimates were still being assessed Saturday afternoon.
