PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Gang Enforcement Team detectives arrested a 19-year-old in connection with a shooting at 148th and East Burnside.

Rasool Islam is set to be arraigned in court Wednesday on charges of attempted murder, assault, unlawful use of a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Police said he shot Amel Johnson, 19, on June 13. Detectives developed probable cause to arrest Islam for the shooting and began to conduct surveillance at his suspected home on the 5300 block of Southeast 136th Avenue.

Officers stopped his car the following day and took him into custody for an outstanding warrant.

Both Islam and Johnson are known gang associates, according to police. Johnson suffered non-life- threatening injuries in the shooting.
