PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

An 18-year-old woman is accused of organizing a trip to Portland from Washington for prostitution acts involving underage girls at a local motel.

Katherine Wells was arraigned Monday on charges of compelling prostitution, promoting prostitution and using a child in a sexually explicit display. Her bail was set at $1 million.

Wells brought two women and two minors, ages 16 and 17, to Portland and posted an ad on a prostitution website, according to court documents.

Police said Wells used her phone number and debit card for the advertisement.

According to court documents, one of the minor victims had already engaged in prostitution acts in Portland, before all four engaged in a "five-some" prostitution act at a motel paid for by Wells.

Police said two minors were allowed to engage in sexual acts in front of adults. Officers were called to the scene after investigators said Wells threatened one of the victims with a knife for "not pleasing the 'John' enough which resulted in the others losing money."

Everyone involved pointed to Wells as the mastermind of the trip, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Wells told police the girls decided on their own to be prostitutes. She admitted knowing they were prostituting, and said she was supposed to be paid gas money, according to court records. She admitted paying for the motel rooms as well.

Another woman, Kyra Humphrey, 20, was also arrested on charges of compelling prostitution, and using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct.
