Woman asks to use phone, rips off elderly Vancouver victims

Posted: Updated:

A woman is targeting elderly people in Vancouver, asking to use their phone and then stealing a purse or wallet once inside.

Vancouver police responded to the 500 block of Southeast 104th Avenue on June 20 for a report of a theft.

The 86-year-old victim said a woman claiming to be a neighbor knocked on her door and asked to use the phone. The victim let the woman in, but later discovered her purse was missing.

Since then, police said there have been three more similar incidents involving a female suspect and elderly victims.

The only description of the suspect is that she's a white woman with dark hair, possibly associated with a red Suburban SUV. Vancouver police released surveillance images of the woman.

If you recognize her or know anything about these cases, call police at 360-487-7399 or email jeff.miller@cityofvancouver.us.
