PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Portland Timbers have made another move to bolster their back line.

The Timbers acquired Jamaican defender Alvas Powell on loan from Jamaican Premier League side Portmore United FC for the remainder of the season.

Once his International Transfer Certificate and visa are approved, he will be added to the Timbers roster.

Powell is just 18 years old, but played for Jamaica's National Team in World Cup qualifiers against Mexico, United States and Honduras. He has five caps (appearances) for Jamaica overall.

He also captained Jamaica's U-20 team to the quarterfinals in the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championships back in February.

The Timbers also announced they have waived midfielder Mobi Fehr, who did not appear in an MLS match this season.
