VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

The victim of a home invasion shooting that led to the deadly police shooting of a teenager is now facing charges involving drugs and stolen property.

A search warrant was obtained back in January for the home of William Toohey, and Cora Whitebird on the 1100 block of Northeast Minnehaha St.

Toohey was shot by 16-year-old Douglas Combs Jan. 25. Combs was a suspect in a series of armed robberies that night, as well as the home invasion shooting involving Toohey, who deputies call an "associate and neighbor."

The Hudson's Bay High School sophomore was shot and killed by police, who said Combs was armed when they tried to make contact with him and another teen late that night.

Toohey was taken to the intensive care unit with serious injuries.

Detectives served a search warrant at his home, and said they found stolen items, including a camera, rifle and laptop computer. Investigators said they were stolen during separate local home burglaries.

Detectives also took possession of marijuana, a digital scale and packaging material.

Both Toohey and Whitebird were arrested Friday. He is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by an ex-convict, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of stolen property and possession with intent to deliver marijuana.

Whitebird is facing stolen property and marijuana charges.

Toohey is also charged with reckless endangerment.

Detectives said prior to the Jan. 25 series of incidents, Toohey had accidentally shot his gun inside his home, with the round traveling into a neighboring home.

"Detectives surmise that the shooting of Toohey by Douglas Combs on the evening of Jan. 25th was not a random act of violence," according to a Clark County Sheriff's Office statement.
