More than 2,000 boxes of food, and other items will be distributed to local families in need July 10.

Two semitrailer loads of boxes containing food, hygiene and household products will be unloaded early that morning in the Eastport Plaza parking lot, 4000 S.E. 82nd Ave.

Starting at 9 a.m., families will be able to pick up one box of each type of supplies. Eligible families will need to present a voucher in order to receive the boxes.

Families who meet the requirements for food assistance can pick up a voucher by July 9th at three of The Salvation Army Corps in the Portland-metro area.

The program is a partnership of The Salvation Army and Feed the Children's Americans Feeding Americans project. In all, 2,400 boxes will be handed out.

The pre-packed boxes will likely contain canned foods, and other non-perishable food, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, deodorant, household cleaners and more.

Families will need to provide their own transportation to and from the distribution site, and a way to carry the three boxes home with them.
