A 26-year-old man accused of stabbing a woman was held down by three other men under the Broadway Bridge on Monday afternoon.
Portland police said Dean Johnson and the victim had a previous relationship and shared a child together. Johnson visited the victim's home to talk to her, and they began talking in front of The Yards, located at 945 NW Naito Parkway.
The conversation turned into a disagreement, and Johnson pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman multiple times, then ran away, police said.
Several people helped the victim, while others chased after Johnson and held him down until police arrived.
The victim survived the stabbing, but remained in a Portland hospital late Monday night to receive treatment for multiple stab wounds.
Johnson will be charged in Multnomah County Court on Tuesday.
