PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A Phoenix man was in critical condition after surgery for gunshot wounds suffered during an argument sparked by a man vomiting on the victim's dog Tuesday night.
Police were searching for the suspect Wednesday morning and considered him armed and dangerous.
Two children also suffered wounds in the shooting, but were treated and released from a hospital.
The 41-year-old man was walking his dog in the courtyard of the Casa Mia apartment complex near 32nd Street and Thomas Road when the suspect vomited over the railing of a second-floor balcony and onto the dog about 10 p.m., Phoenix Officer James Holmes said.
The two men got into an argument and the 22-year-old suspect walked around the landing, grabbed a handgun as the victim, possibly sensing the oncoming trouble, ran towards his apartment, Holmes said.
The gunman then fired at the apartment, hitting the man, his 14-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old family friend, Holmes said.
The suspect jumped from the balcony and ran, Holmes said.
Each child suffered a single wound to lower extremities, Holmes said, who added that three other people were in a back bedroom of the apartment.
Holmes said the two men have a history of confrontation.
He said officers know who they are looking for, but didn't want to release too much information before his capture.
Holmes did say that police were looking for a black man, and witnesses told officers he possibly was dressed in a tank top and shorts and wore dreadlocks.
