Suspects steal boxes from Beaverton porch, attack chasing homeowner

Posted: Updated:

A Beaverton homeowner chased after two men stealing boxes off his front porch and ended up with a split lip.

Police said it happened just after 12 p.m. Thursday on Southwest Breccia Drive. The victim said he had computer equipment shipped to his home and it was on his front porch in four separate boxes.

The man said he heard people taking the boxes, so he went outside to confront them. He said two suspects in their late teens or early 20s ran away toward a car parked several homes away with the boxes.

The victim said he got close to one of them, who then turned around and hit the man with one of the boxes. The attack left him with a split lip.

Because the suspect used force in an attempt to escape with stolen items, the crime designation changes from theft to robbery, according to police.

The suspects dropped the four boxes on the ground and took off in their car.

They are described as white males, standing 5'8" to 5'10" with thin to medium builds. They were wearing long shirts and beanie style caps. Their car was a white sedan with four doors.
