PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A high-speed police chase led police through northeast Portland Monday morning.

The whole thing started when officers tried to pull over an SUV for speeding on Sandy Boulevard near Killingsworth. Instead of stopping, officers say the driver sped away. Police were eventually able to maneuver their cruisers to stop the driver at 82nd and Killingsworth.

The driver, 41-year-old August Lockwood, refused to keep his hands up as police approached and climbed into the backseat of the Chevy Suburban. That's when police broke out the back window and removed Lockwood from the car.

He now faces a long list of charges ranging from drug to reckless driving charges. His passenger, Cynthia McCraw, was arrested for violating her probation.
