HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

A teenager who set his house on fire with his parents inside has been found guilty of assault, arson and attempted aggravated murder.

Dakota Eldridge torched his home on Southeast 63rd Avenue in Hillsboro back in April.

When paramedics arrived, they found his parents had escaped the burning home out of a window. They suffered smoke inhalation, minor burns and other injuries related to rushing out through the window.

Officials said the teen used an accelerant inside a bedroom near their door.

After the fire, police found Eldridge in a nearby mall parking lot at Baseline and Cornelius Pass Road.

He will be sentenced Sept. 3.
